“Employers are responsible for providing safe and healthy workplaces, especially post-Covid” – and effective decontamination, cleaning and of course hand hygiene are all essential elements in helping to make an office or other place of work COVID-secure, according to a recent report on the Personnel Today website.
A gradual return of staff to many offices has taken place across in many sectors, with additional measure having been put in place to keep risk to a minimum, wrote Shaun Doak, who pointed out that the employees themselves also need to be made aware of their personal workplace responsibilities.

Effective hand hygiene has been universally accepted as an essential tool in helping to keep COVID-19 – as well as many other bugs – at bay. Hand sanitisers with “at least 70% ethanol concentration” should be deployed wherever they’re required, particularly near entrances and exits.
Good though they are, they are by no means the most effective method of infection control, advises the article. Soap and water hand washing should be the main method of achieving clean hands on the grounds that it’s far more effective.
“Whilst hand sanitiser is a quick and easy way to clean hands, washing hands thoroughly with soap has a greater efficacy in cleaning away viral contaminants.”
And positioning hand wash stations at the point of need is crucial in order to ensure maximum effectiveness.
