The TEAL Variant

The story of Kathryn’s Homemade Cakes
Kathryn Matthews has explained how the purpose-built cake studio came about.
“I have been in business, since the Autumn of 2007. I started, with the intention of filling clients freezers with home baking, but it has taken off in a completely different direction, after getting requests for Birthday cakes. The business has gradually grown and it had started to take over the whole house! I had cake boards, boxes and sugar stashed all over the house!
“The idea for the studio started with a throw away comment from my husband, that we could perhaps build a studio in the garden.
“Electricity was easy to resolve, but plumbing was going to be a bit more of a challenge as it would mean digging up the patio to get a water supply into the studio and as it is also lower than the house, any waste water would need pumping away and we had started to look at putting a saniflo system in.
“The plan was to still bake in my kitchen, but take all the cakes into the studio for decorating and I only needed a hand wash facility in there, as any washing up is taken back into my kitchen. It was after taking my daughter to have her ears pierced in a local branch of Claire’s Accessories and saw how they dealt with the hand wash/hygiene, that I started to research your company and products.
