Handeman Xtra provides portable hand washing facilities for Deveron Projects

Deveron Projects use TEAL mobile sinks for versatile hand washing

Hand hygiene deemed essential for events which include the provision of food

Mobile hand washing facilities – in the shape of TEAL’s highly portable Handeman Xtra – are being effectively utilised by Deveron Projects in a number of varied locations and situations. Being lightweight and easy to carry around enables them to supply effective hand hygiene at the point of need.

Deveron Projects are an arts organisation based in Huntly, Aberdeenshire: Huntly is a small, rural, market town. They work both with artists and communities through socially engaged projects.

Georgina Watson, Project Intern, said that

“Many of our events include food as we see it as a leveller promoting friendship and sharing ideas.”

The purchase of the hand washing station was funded by the Glens of Foudland Windfarm Trust she explained.

“In Huntly, there is a monthly Farmer’s market that we often have a stall at, doing various seasonal activities that also link to our current projects. The market on 2nd September will be the Huntly Hairst Food and Farming Festival.

“For this we have got various discussion events planned as well as a pit fire at a local wood in the evening, where we will definitely be using the Handeman Xtra!” said Georgina.

The Handeman Xtra is also being made available for use by the community so that they can have use of it for their own work and events.

About the Deveron Projects

The town is the venue describes the framework in which they work and contribute to the social wellbeing of their town. They inhabit, explore, map and activate the place through artist driven projects. Huntly’s small town context, its 18th Century streets and the surrounding Aberdeenshire countryside offer an abundance of possibilities to work with. They have engaged with local people and their clubs, choirs, shops, schools, churches, bars and discos there since 1995.

One of their current projects, The Town is the Garden, is a community growing initiative and focused on growing their own produce as well as encouraging members of the community to do the same. With the project, they hold monthly workshops about various aspects of gardening and permaculture and the gardening team do regular work in their garden and the allotments.
