Good hygiene practices are essential in the beauty industry. It’s important to recognise potential health threats and deal with them as effectively as possible. We recently wrote that“deadly superbugs” are found to be “lurking in nine out of ten make-up bags” with beauty blenders being deemed the biggest threat because they were“most likely to harbour potentially harmful bacteria”.
A recent article on the Good Housekeeping website has focussed on how to wash your make-up sponge effectively. Susanne Norris demonstrates how easily this can be achieved – and why it is so important.
“Rinse your sponge under the tap, applying a little antibacterial hand wash, baby shampoo or a specialist sponge cleaner and lathering it up so that you can see the foundation washing out.”
Get the soap right into the blender she advises, rinse it thoroughly, squeeze all the water out and leave it to air dry on a clean paper towel.
Then wash your hands!
