Why hand washing with soap and water is so vital – for everyone
Global Handwashing Day 2019 takes place on October 15th: it’s dedicated to increasing worldwide awareness about the importance of washing hands with soap to help save lives by preventing illness and disease.
“Global Handwashing Day is an opportunity to design, test, and replicate creative ways to encourage people to wash their hands with soap at critical times.”
The theme of this year’s campaign is “Clean Hands for All”. The campaign website states that
“Inequalities in handwashing facilities and effective handwashing promotion programs can put individuals at higher risk for diseases that impact their health, education, and economic outcomes.”
