Contaminated hands are the major cause of the spread of Healthcare Acquired Infections (HCAIs) like MRSA, Clostridium Difficile, Norrovirus, etc.
They have also been instrumental in the rapid progress of other serious infections in hospitals and clinics such as E.coli.
NOTE:- The use of hand gells and alcohol rubs do not eliminate all dangerous viruses. Only washing in hot water with liquid soap ensures that the spores are eliminated and rendered safe.
The British public have been reassured that the measures already taken are reducing these infections but the undeniable fact is that many thousands of patients still die each year and many more suffer the nasty consequences of a hospital and healthcare acquired infections.
In fact some 8% of admitted patients still suffer from the result of a Healthcare Acquired Infection.
The remarkable Hygienius® Prowash HGP230 hot water hand wash unit is the development of the Hygienius HG230 but which is electronically programmed to deliver a washing programme that exactly matches the requirement as shown in definitive document produced by the National Patient Safety Agency for the NHS:-
"Hand Washing Technique with Soap and Water".
Other than the NHS washing programme the Hygienius is identical to the popular Hygienius HG230.
Washing Procedure
Having a unique Greensensor, washing with the Hygienius® Prowash is simple, quick and very effective.
* Trigger the wash programme by placing the hands in the bowl when the Greensensor will commence to flash.
* The Prowash will immediately deliver water a 3/4 second splash of water with which to wet the hands.
* The Greensensor will continue to flash for 15 seconds to give ample time to apply and rub in, the liquid soap.
* Then there is a generous 10 seconds hot water rinse during which the greensensor is extinguished.
* Reset by removing hands and the Greensensor to relight.
Total time for a perfect wash - just 25 to 30 seconds - and hands cannot be cleaner!.
Washes per filling of the TEALtainer II Twin Bag - 40 to 45.

How do I disinfect my Hygienius Prowash?
There is a simple routine developed with the help of the Hospital Infection Research Laboratory, City Hospital, Dudley Road, Birmingham B18 7QH.
It involves the use of a 500ppm chlorine solution and it is suggested that if this proceedure is carried out every other day it "is sufficent to maintain a negligible level of contamination".
What About Legionella?
With instantaneous heating in a all copper tank, there is no retained warm water in which micro-organism might breed. The low pressure water delivery, provides water droplets so there is no possibility of breathing in any mist or fine spray which is the big problem with conventional mains water systems.
