The award winning and self contained TEAL Hygienius^® is an innovative solution to the problem of cross contamination by unclean hands.

A hot wash under running water with no splashing, means that 'hands free' Hygienius can be sited exactly at the POINT OF NEED.

The illuminated spray head and sign make the Hygienius^® uniquely eye catching.
Designed to ENCOURAGE hand washing, operation is fully automatic, and there are no messy twist taps, no levers or buttons and nothing to adjust - the hot wash is initiated by the 'Bluesensor' when hands are placed in the bowl. This results in a low pressure spray wash that is both delightful to use and fully hygienic.
The Hygienius^® needs NO plumbing and only needs a 13 amp power point for operation.

Washing Procedure

Once the the fresh water bag has been filled with 10 litres of cold water and the Hygienius^® is plugged in (and switched on), there is a 10 second thorough purge of cold water to flush out the system. This completed, the Bluesensor lights up and your Hygienius is ready for use.
Placing the hands in the bowl will then trigger wash cycle and the Bluesensor will then flash indicating that the water is being heated.

There is 3-5 seconds 'soaping time' during which the water is instantaneously heated to 40/45’C, followed by the 10 second low pressure spray wash.
Lifting the hands from the bowl, will reset the wash prgramme and the Bluesensor will relight. 

TEALtainer™ Twin Bag
The TEALtainer™ Twin Bag is located in the base of the Hygienius^® and is a self contained carrying vessel for both the fresh and waste water, each separately and hygienically secured.

The fresh water bag is filled with 10 litres of fresh clean cold water to give you up to 50 generous washes. When this has been used up - the waste bag will be full. Then empty the waste bag and replenish the fresh water - what can be easier.

Maintenance
TEAL recomend that the changing the water and the Disinfection routine should be the responsiblity of your Maintanance Department.

The water should be changed at least once per day.

Cleaning and Disinfectation
This where HYGIENIUS^® really scores. Total Disinfection to combat any possible water bourn infections such as Legionella is simple and straight forward as set out by  The Hospital Infection Research Laboratory by the use of 500ppm of chlorine solution.

With this routine carried out once every other day The Hospital Infection Research Laboratory states that this "is sufficient to maintain a negligible level of contamination."

Remember! TEAL engineers have designed the Hygienius from the ground up to be intrinsically safe from water born infections. With low pressure water delivery of water droplets, there is NO fine spray or mist to breath in, a serious problem with mains operated warm water delivery and with instantaneous water heating, there is no residual warm water to activate infection.

 Healthcare Acquired Infections HCAIs
Some 8% of admitted hospital patients still suffer the effects of HCAIs due to cross contamination which is believed to be due to unclean hands.
The only sure way of eliminating these dangerous viruses is by washing them away as it is clear that antiseptics, hand gels and alcohol rubs are not always completly effective.

Water born Infections -NO!
The Hygienius^® is designed from the ground up to eliminate any risk of water born infections such as Legionella. It has instantaneous water heating and quality washing is achieved by a low pressure spray of water droplets. This mean there is NO fine spray or mist that can be breathed in, a serious problem with all types of conventional mains operated systems.
A copy of the report  by Hospital Infection ResearchLaboratory is available from TEAL and it finishes with the comment " the results of these tests suggest that for routine disinfection, 500ppm chlorine with a 5 minute contact time once every other day is sufficient to maintaina negligible level of contamination."
